BARRE BOUND!
The Hornets beat Montpelier 50-44 in last night's quarter final battle and are headed back to the Barre Auditorium for the second year in a row! The Hornets came out strong and quickly went up 10-0 early, but the Salons fought back to take a one point lead at the half. Calvin Carter came out firing in the second half and put the Hornets ahead for good. Carter led all scorers with 29 points, Matt Perley added 10 and Caleb Laroche 6. The Hornets will play in the semi-final game Wednesday night at 8:15 pm. HORNETS CRUISE TO PLAYOFF VICTORY
The Hornets started out fast and never looked back as they beat visiting Vergennes in the opening round of the VT DII playoffs 54-22. Calvin Carter led all scorers with 18 points and Matt Perley had 11, while the Hornets bench contributed 22 points including 8 from Evan Doe. The Hornets are back in action when they take on the #5 seed Montpelier on Friday. HORNETS DOWN FALCONS
The Hornets finished the regular season with a 53-30 road victory in Richford. The Falcons were held to eight points in the second half as the Hornet's defense closed out the game. Matt Perley led all scorers with 14 points, Noah Swainbank and Evan Doe each chipped in 10. HORNETS PICKUP A ROAD VICTORY
The Hornets defense continued it's dominance Friday night in Northfield, holding the Marauders to only 16 points while scoring 64. Matt Perley led the Hornets with 20 points, while Mahlik Franklin added 16 and Casey Caforia added 9. The Hornets return for their final regular season home game on Wedesday night when they take on Lake Region. HORNETS DOWN BULLETS
The Hornets defense held BFA Fairfax to 24 points on their way to a 58-24 victory on Wednesday night. Calvin Carter led all scorers with 16 points and seven Hornets each had multiple baskets. The Horents are back on the Road this Friday in Northfield. HORNETS DROP ONE ON THE ROAD
The Hornets lost a tough back and forth battle on Friday night in Winooski 54-45. Calvin Carter led all scorers with 22 and hit three pointers to close out the second and third quarters, both times giving the Hornets the lead. Winooski shut down the Hornet offense in the fourth quarter to seal the victory. Matt Perley (12 points) and Caleb Laroche (10 points) rounded out the scoring for the Hornets. Calvin Carter scored a game high 24 points on Wednesday night as the Hornets moved to their 9th straight victory 55-20 over Peoples Academy. The Hornets got a strong defensive effort from the entire team and scoring contributions from eight players on the offensive end as well. They take their 9 game win streak on the road Friday night in Winooski. HORNETS ROLL TO EIGHTH STRAIGHT WIN
The Hornets took their seven game win streak on the road Friday night in Stowe. Calvin Carter had the hot hand early scoring the first 8 points of the game. After jumping out to an early lead, which included Brandyn Robtoy hitting a timely three pointer, the Hornets never looked back winning 60-20. Caleb Laroche (10 points), Wade McCallister (9 points) and Evan Doe (6 points) rounded out the scoring. DOUBLE OVERTIME WINNERS
The Hornets won a hard fought back and fourth battle tonight against Hazen. The Hornets were led in the first half by Matt Perley, who finished the game with 24 points and continued to hit key shots throughout the game. Calvin Carter finished strong and had a game high 28 points. A great defensive effort sealed the overtime victory! The Hornets take their seven game win streak to Stowe on Friday. The Hornets came out firing early and never looked back with a 56-35 win over Danville. Calvin Carter led the 19 points, while Matt Perley added 12, Wade McAllister 11 and Noah Swainbank 6. The Hornets look to build on their six game win streak next Wednesday when they take on Hazen. CARTER SCORES 1000, HORNETS ROLL
Junior Guard Calvin Carter scored his 1000th and the Hornets went on to win tonight's game 48-28 over BFA Fairfax. Carter scored his 1000th point on a three pointer in the third quarter and ended with a game high 29 points. Caleb Laroche had 12 points for the Hornets as well. HORNETS STING FALCONS
The Hornets beat Richford 63-40 tonight in front of a packed house. The Falcons played a tough game and kept it close through the first half, but could not hold on as the Hornets pulled away for the 23 point victory. Calvin Carter led all scorers with 25 and Caleb Laroche chipped in 17. Kyle Doan led the Falcons with 15 points. HORNETS HAND SPARTANS FIRST LOSS
The Hornets came out firing and handed the Winooski their first loss of the season 50-36. Calvin Carter led the offense with 27 points, while Mahlik Franklin had a great game adding 12 points off the bench! The Hornets jumped out to a third quarter lead and shut down the Spartan offense the rest of the way. The Hornets are back in action on Tuesday taking on Richford at home. HOLIDAY CHAMPS!
The Hornets finished the Annual Holiday Tournament with a 55-36 win over MVU to take the tournament championship. It was a tight game through the first three quarters with Enosburg eventually pulling away in the fourth. Calvin Carter led the offence with 25 points and Caleb Laroche added 10. Each Hornet player contributed offensively as well, for a great team win! Calvin Carter was named the Tournament MVP and both Carter and Caleb Laroche were named to the All-Tournament team, as well as MVU’s Richard Walker. |
